What Telegram added in August 2026
Telegram announced Signed Gifts on August 25, 2026. The feature lets a sender add a signature and comment while buying a rare upgraded collectible from another user through Telegram's built-in Gift Marketplace.
The change is narrower than a general message feature. It applies to the Marketplace flow used to choose and send a collectible to a specific recipient. It does not mean that every transfer, resale or blockchain withdrawal automatically supports the same comment controls.
How to send a signed collectible gift
Open the recipient's Telegram profile, tap the menu button, choose Send a Gift and select the Collectible filter. Telegram's official walkthrough then lets you choose a rare upgraded gift available through the Marketplace and add your signature or comment before confirmation.
Use a current official Telegram app. Telegram says outdated clients may show a placeholder when they cannot render a new feature. If the Collectible filter or comment field is missing, update the app and reopen the recipient's profile instead of following a third-party payment link.
Before you pay
Signed Telegram Gift checklist
- The flow started from the intended recipient's Telegram profile.
- The Collectible filter and exact upgraded gift were checked.
- The final Stars amount and listing details are current on the confirmation screen.
- The comment contains no personal, payment or recovery secrets.
- The public or private visibility choice matches the intended audience.
- No login code, session file, recovery phrase or private key was shared.
Verify the collectible before paying
A signed gift is still a Marketplace purchase. Confirm the recipient, collection, unique number, model, backdrop, symbol, seller and final Stars amount on Telegram's confirmation screen. A personal comment does not correct a mistaken recipient or an incorrectly selected collectible.
Telegram's launch post describes this flow as a purchase with Telegram Stars. Do not copy a live price, conversion rate or fee from an old guide. Use only the amount and currency shown for the exact listing and account at the moment you confirm.
Who can see the signature and comment
Telegram's Bot API 10.3 added text, formatting entities and an is_private flag to UniqueGiftInfo. The official field description says that when is_private is set, both the sender and the gift text are shown only to the receiver. Otherwise, everyone can see them.
Treat the privacy choice as part of the final review. Do not put an address, phone number, recovery phrase, payment detail or another secret in a gift comment. A public comment can be visible from the gift card, while a private comment still remains visible to the recipient.
Signed Gift, ordinary gift and transfer are different flows
The August announcement specifically covers a collectible bought from the Telegram Marketplace and sent from a user's profile. Ordinary gifts, purchase offers, direct transfers and blockchain withdrawals have separate rules and interfaces in Telegram's documentation.
Do not assume a signature changes the collectible's rarity, unique number, ownership or reported market value. It is personal text attached to the gift event. Evaluate the asset using its real attributes and ownership state, not the emotional meaning of its comment.
A signature is not TON ownership proof
Signed Gifts are a Telegram Marketplace feature. If a collectible is represented as an NFT on TON, ownership is determined by the NFT item contract and its collection relationship. TON Docs recommends verifying the item against the collection address rather than trusting a name, image or comment.
Do not treat the Marketplace signature as an on-chain autograph, provenance certificate or transfer memo. The official sources do not say that the new comment becomes immutable blockchain metadata or survives every later resale, transfer or withdrawal.
Safer checks before the final confirmation
Start from the intended recipient's profile and keep the purchase inside Telegram's official Send a Gift flow. A seller, bot or support account should not need your login code, QR approval, session file, wallet recovery phrase or private key to add a comment to a gift.
Review the exact collectible, final amount, recipient, comment and privacy choice together before confirming. If a screen differs from Telegram's documented path, stop and verify the app version and destination instead of rushing because a listing may disappear.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is a Signed Gift on Telegram?
It is a rare upgraded collectible bought through Telegram's Gift Marketplace and sent with a sender signature or comment. Telegram announced the feature on August 25, 2026.
How do I send a signed Telegram Gift?
Open the recipient's profile, choose Send a Gift, select the Collectible filter, choose the Marketplace gift and add the comment before confirming.
Who can see the sender and gift comment?
Telegram documents one private state where both sender and text are visible only to the receiver. Without that state, everyone can see them.
Can I hide the comment but show my name?
The official UniqueGiftInfo privacy field couples the sender and text: both are receiver-only when private. Do not assume an independent visibility control unless the current app explicitly offers one.
Can I edit a Signed Gift comment later?
Telegram's launch post does not document a later editing flow. Review the text and visibility before payment and do not promise that the comment can be changed afterward.
Does a signature prove NFT ownership on TON?
No. TON NFT ownership is verified through the item contract and its collection address. A Telegram gift comment is not an on-chain ownership certificate.
