How to estimate the total cost of upgrading a Telegram gift

An upgrade costs the gift's original price plus Telegram's upgrade fee, both in Stars. The calculator adds them and converts the total to USD and TON.

Telegram gift upgrade cost formula

The original gift price and the upgrade fee are added in Stars. That total is multiplied by the USD price of one Star ($0.013 by default), then divided by the TON price from CoinGecko.

Total Stars = original gift price + upgrade fee. Estimated TON = total Stars × USD per Star ÷ USD per TON.

Original cost is not current market value

The catalog price is what the gift cost in Telegram. The collection floor is the cheapest listing in the collection, and it can belong to any model, backdrop or number.

A floor above your cost describes the cheapest listing. Your upgraded gift can sell for more or less.

What to check before upgrading

  1. Confirm the exact upgrade fee shown for your gift inside Telegram.
  2. If you bought Stars, enter what you paid per Star.
  3. Check current listings for the collection and relevant models.

Not always. The floor is the cheapest listing in the whole collection. Your upgraded gift gets its own model, backdrop and symbol, and the marketplace takes a fee when you sell.

Where does the TON price come from?

From CoinGecko. The calculator divides the USD cost by the TON/USD price; the time of that price is listed under Method & assumptions.

Is the gift cost the current resale price?

No. It is the original price of the gift in Telegram, in Stars, from Telegram's gift catalog. The resale floor is shown separately in TON.
