How gift trading works
Trading Telegram gifts means buying collectible gifts and reselling them for more. A trade makes money only if the sale price beats your breakeven price after fees on both sides. A price gap smaller than the fees is a loss.
Trades happen on Telegram's own marketplace, on Fragment and in gift apps such as Portals, Tonnel and MRKT. Each charges its own fees.
Calculate the breakeven price first
Breakeven sale price = (purchase price + fixed costs) ÷ (1 − seller fee rate). Fixed costs are network and withdrawal fees on both sides.
Example with Fragment prices on 10 October 2026: the cheapest Plush Pepe cost 6,666 TON. Add about 1 TON of network fee to buy and about 1 TON to sell. With Fragment's 5% fee, breakeven is 6,668 ÷ 0.95 ≈ 7,019 TON.
Fragment lists seven Plush Pepe sales between 25 September and 9 October 2026, from 6,687 to 11,111 TON. Four were above 7,019 TON and three below. Past sales show the range; the next buyer can pay less.
Where you sell changes the result
Same gift, same 7,500 TON sale: Fragment's 5% fee costs 375 TON; Portals' 2% commission (since 10 July 2026) costs 150 TON; Tonnel's total fee of 0.5% (since 27 September 2026) comes to 37.5 TON.
Moving a gift between venues adds fixed costs. MRKT has charged 0.17 TON per gift withdrawal since 6 May 2026, and Tonnel listed a 0.1 TON return fee in February 2026.
Telegram's own marketplace pays the seller 90% of a TON price by default, so the same 7,500 TON sale there leaves 6,750 TON. For a Stars price, the default payout is 80%.
Arbitrage: a price gap is not profit yet
Arbitrage means buying on one marketplace and selling on another. Example: buy at 6,666 TON and sell for 7,000 TON on a venue with a 2% commission. The 334 TON gap shrinks to 194 TON after the 140 TON commission, before network and withdrawal fees, and only if a buyer pays 7,000.
The GiftsWatch arbitrage scanner compares collection floors on Fragment and Getgems. Open both listings before you act, because floors change during the day.
Common approaches
Each approach rests on a different number. Know which one before you buy.
- Floor buying: buy at or near the collection floor and sell if the floor rises. Watch the floor history on the gift's GiftsWatch page.
- Trait hunting: look for gifts listed near the floor with rarer traits. Compare trait percentages and past sales on Fragment.
- New releases: Telegram sells new gifts through Stars auctions. Gifts won at auction cannot be converted back into Stars, so resale is the only exit.
- Offers: offer below the asking price through Telegram's protected offers. Telegram shows the owner how close your offer is to the gift's estimated value.
Limits to set before you buy
Write down the buy price, the breakeven price and the lowest price you will accept. Decide how long you will hold the gift.
Use only money you can afford to lose. Gift prices can fall, and a listing can stay unsold.
Trade only in official interfaces. Telegram's offers protect both buyer and owner; a deal in private messages does not.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can you make money trading Telegram gifts?
Some trades make money and some lose it. A trade pays only if the resale price beats the breakeven price; on Fragment that is about 5.3% above your purchase price plus network fees.
Which fees matter most for gift trading?
The sale fee: 5% on Fragment, 2% on Portals since July 2026, 10% of a TON price on Telegram's marketplace by default, and a total fee of 0.5% on Tonnel since 27 September 2026. Withdrawal fees add a fixed cost per gift, for example 0.17 TON on MRKT.
How do I find underpriced gifts?
Compare a listing with recent sales of gifts that share its traits. Fragment shows trait percentages and past sale prices on each gift page; GiftsWatch shows floors and price history.
