What Are Telegram Gifts?

Regular and collectible gifts, and what you can do with each: show it on your profile, exchange it for Stars, sell it, transfer it or move it to the TON blockchain.

What a Telegram gift is

A Telegram gift is a digital item you buy with Telegram Stars and send to another user or a channel. The recipient can display it in the Gifts tab of their profile or exchange it for part of its price in Stars. Some gifts can be upgraded to collectibles: unique versions that can be sold, transferred or moved to the TON blockchain as an NFT.

Telegram added gifts in October 2024. To send one, open a user's profile and tap ⋮ / ⋯ > Send a Gift. You can add a message and hide your name: the recipient still sees who sent the gift, other people do not.

Exchanging a gift for Stars removes it for good. Telegram allows the exchange only for a limited time after you receive the gift, 7 days by default, and it can return fewer Stars than the gift cost. Gifts won at auctions cannot be exchanged.

Collectible gifts: model, backdrop, symbol and number

Since January 2025 many received gifts can be upgraded to collectibles. The upgrade costs Stars, which Telegram says cover blockchain fees. A sender can also prepay the upgrade, so the recipient upgrades for free.

An upgraded gift gets a random model (its artwork), a backdrop colour, a symbol and a serial number. Each attribute has a rarity: a model found on 3% of a collection is rarer than one found on 10%.

Example from Fragment on 10 October 2026: Plush Pepe #2365 has the Eggplant model (3%), the Sapphire backdrop (2%) and the Cursor symbol (0.5%). Its owner listed it for 6,666 TON.

Since February 2026 collectibles can also be crafted: you combine up to four gifts of the same type for a chance at a rarer version. Every gift used in crafting is burned, whatever the result.

What you can do with a collectible gift

A collectible stays on your profile until you move it. Your options:

  • Wear it: My Profile > Gifts, tap the gift, then Wear. It becomes your emoji status and changes your profile colours.
  • Transfer it to another user. Some transfers cost Stars, others are free.
  • Sell it on Telegram's marketplace: open the gift, tap Sell and set a price in Stars or TON. You can unlist it later.
  • Accept an offer. Since December 2025 anyone can offer to buy your gift in Stars or TON; if you accept, the gift goes to the buyer automatically.
  • Move it to the TON blockchain: My Profile > Gifts, tap the gift, then Transfer > Send via Blockchain. You need two-step verification, and Fragment turns the gift into an NFT in your TON wallet. Some gifts can be exported only after a set date.

Where gifts come from

New gifts are sold in Telegram's catalogue for Stars. Limited gifts sell out, and some are available only with Premium or only from a set date. Since November 2025 new limited gifts are released through auctions: you bid in Stars over several rounds, and your place in the ranking sets your gift's number.

Collectibles that are already out are bought from their owners: in Telegram's built-in marketplace (Send a Gift, then the Collectible filter) or on Fragment, Getgems, Portals and Tonnel. Our guide to buying gifts covers each one step by step.

How much Telegram gifts cost

A regular gift has a fixed price in Stars, set by Telegram. A collectible has no fixed price: each owner sets their own. The floor is the cheapest listing in a collection at a given moment.

Gifts from one collection are priced differently because of their model, backdrop, symbol and number. Compare a gift with others that share its attributes, not only with the collection floor.

Are Telegram gifts NFTs?

Not until they are exported. A gift inside Telegram lives on Telegram's servers. It becomes an NFT on the TON blockchain only when its owner moves it there; then it sits in a TON wallet and can be traded on Fragment or Getgems.

An exported gift can still appear on a Telegram profile. Telegram calls this a hosted gift: the profile shows it while the TON wallet stays the owner.

Only after export. A collectible becomes an NFT on the TON blockchain when its owner sends it there with Transfer > Send via Blockchain.
