How the Telegram gift marketplace works
Telegram's gift marketplace is built into the app. To buy, open a profile, tap Send a Gift and switch on the Resale filter. To sell, open a collectible on your profile, tap Sell and set a price.
Only collectible (upgraded) gifts are traded. Prices are in Stars, and Telegram also supports prices in TON.
How to buy a gift
The Resale view lists collectibles that other users are selling.
- Open a user's profile and tap Send a Gift.
- Turn on the Resale filter.
- Pick a collection, then filter by model, backdrop and symbol. Sort by price or by gift number.
- Open a gift, check its number and traits, and pay with Stars.
How to sell a gift
You can sell only collectible gifts you own. Telegram can set a date before which a gift can't be resold, so a new gift may not be listable right away.
- Go to My Profile > Gifts and tap the collectible.
- Tap Sell and set your price.
- The gift appears in the marketplace and gets a Sale label on your profile.
- To stop selling, tap Unlist.
Fees and price limits
Telegram keeps a share of every sale. Its API documentation sets the defaults: the seller gets 80% of a price in Stars and 90% of a price in TON.
Prices must stay within Telegram's limits. The documented defaults are 125 to 100,000 Stars.
Portals, Tonnel, MRKT and Getgems set their own fees. Compare them before you choose where to list.
Make an offer
You can also offer a price for a collectible you see on someone's profile. Tap ⋯ or ⋮ on the gift, choose Offer to Buy, set a price in Stars or TON and pick how long the offer lasts, from 6 to 72 hours.
Your payment is reserved while the offer is open. If the owner rejects it or it expires, the full amount comes back instantly. If the owner accepts, the gift moves to you automatically.
How to judge a price
Each collectible has a Value field with its approximate resale price. Expand it to see the average sale price of other gifts in the same collection.
Gifts with different models, backdrops and symbols are priced separately. Compare a listing with gifts that share its traits, not only with the cheapest gift in the collection.
Keep the deal inside Telegram
Marketplace purchases and offers run through Telegram, which moves the gift and the payment together. Telegram says offers protect both buyer and owner.
A seller who asks for a wallet transfer or a deal in private messages takes that protection away. Never share login codes with anyone.
