How to Transfer Telegram Gifts

Transfer a collectible Telegram gift in My Profile > Gifts > Transfer to a user, channel or TON wallet. Only collectibles move; some transfers cost Stars.

How to transfer a Telegram gift

Open My Profile > Gifts, tap the collectible and choose Transfer. Pick the user or channel and confirm. Some transfers are free and some cost Stars; you see the cost before confirming.

Only collectible (upgraded) gifts can be transferred. A regular gift has to be upgraded first.

Transfer a gift to another user

The gift leaves your profile and goes to the recipient.

  • Go to My Profile > Gifts and open the collectible.
  • Tap Transfer and choose the recipient.
  • Check that the name and username belong to the person you mean.
  • Confirm. If the transfer costs Stars, you pay them at this step.

Transfer a gift to a channel

Collectibles can also go to channels, where they show on the channel's profile.

Channel owners can pass a channel's gifts on to other users and channels.

Cost and waiting time

Telegram sets the transfer cost per gift. Some transfers are free, others cost a fixed number of Stars.

Telegram can also set a date before which a gift can't be transferred. Until then the Transfer option is unavailable for that gift.

Send a gift to a TON wallet

You can move a collectible out of Telegram as an NFT on the TON blockchain. Telegram says this gives owners permanent control, even if they lose or delete their Telegram account.

Export has its own earliest date, separate from the transfer date.

  • Go to My Profile > Gifts and tap the gift.
  • Choose Transfer > Send via Blockchain.
  • Enter your two-step verification password.
  • Telegram gives you a Fragment link where you import the NFT to your TON wallet.

If you can't transfer a gift

Check these four causes in order.

  • The gift is regular, not collectible. Upgrade it first.
  • The gift has a lock date. Wait until it passes.
  • You are signed in to a different account from the one that owns the gift.
  • Your app is outdated or unofficial. Update the official Telegram app.

Selling? Don't transfer first

A transfer gives the gift away. Getting it back depends entirely on the recipient.

To sell, use the marketplace or accept an offer. Telegram then moves the gift and the payment together, while a direct transfer sends the gift with nothing in return.
