How Telegram Gift Auctions Work
Telegram sells new collectible gifts through Stars auctions held over several rounds. The top bidders in each round get a gift; other bids carry over and are refunded if they never win.

How the auctions work
Telegram releases new collectible gifts through auctions. You bid in Stars, and in each round the top bidders each receive one gift. Lower bids carry over to the next round, and bids that never win are refunded when the auction ends.
Telegram announced auctions on 19 November 2025. Auction gifts carry an Auction banner and their own t.me/auction links, and you find them under Settings > Send a Gift.
Rounds and gift numbers
Each auction has a fixed number of rounds and of gifts per round. Total supply equals gifts per round times rounds.
Your place decides your gift's number: the top bidder in round 1 gets #1, second place gets #2, and so on. Telegram can show the number you would get at your current position.
Some rounds extend: a change among the top bids close to the end adds time to the round.
Placing and raising a bid
Each auction sets a minimum bid, and the bid screen shows how many Stars you need to win a gift in the current round. When you bid, you choose who receives the gift and can add a message; neither can be changed later.
You can raise a bid at any time, but you cannot withdraw it: a bid ends in a win, a raise or a refund. Bids appear in your Stars transaction history.
You can bid in several rounds to win several gifts, and take part in more than one auction at a time.
How bids are ranked
Higher bids rank first. With equal amounts, the earlier bid ranks higher.
Telegram shows exact bid levels for the top 100 places and rougher steps below that, so a low position is an estimate.
If your bid falls so far behind that it cannot win any remaining gift, Telegram returns it early. To take part again, you place a new bid.
After the auction
A won gift arrives as a message to the recipient you chose, with its collectible number.
Gifts won at auction cannot be converted into Stars. To get value back, you resell them.
When an auction ends, Telegram shows its average price and how many of its gifts are for resale on Telegram and on Fragment.
Set a bid limit before you start
Decide your maximum before the round starts, because the bid needed to win rises as others bid.
If you plan to resell, include the seller fee. With Fragment's 5% fee, a gift that cost the equivalent of 100 TON must sell for about 105.3 TON to break even.
The average price Telegram shows after the auction tells you what winners paid on average.

Frequently asked questions
How do Telegram gift auctions work?
You bid Stars for a new gift. Each round, the top bidders get one gift each and other bids move to the next round. Bids that never win are refunded when all gifts are handed out.
Can I cancel a bid in a Telegram auction?
No. You can raise it, and it ends in a win or a refund.
What happens if I don't win a round?
Your bid moves to the next round automatically. If it falls too far behind to win any remaining gift, Telegram returns it early.
Which gift number will I get?
It follows your place: the top bidder in round 1 gets #1. Telegram estimates your number from your current position.
Can I convert an auction gift into Stars?
No. Gifts won at auction cannot be converted back into Stars.
